Redecorated Fire Place

When we moved in our new house, it had an electric room heater ( the fire place type with artificial wood). We got it removed as my son is always trying to get on things and it was wobbly. The plumber fixed a wooden board to cover the empty space. The wood certainly looked out of place. So I thought of covering it with quilled flowers and swirls. But then changed the plan. My son would have peeled them off in minutes. I covered the board with white A3 papers and then stamped on it with a medallion stamp from papermania. I couldn’t put enough pressure no matter how much I tried. As a result most of the images were not stamped properly. I had to draw the lines with sharpie marker. I wanted to color the images, but my husband asked me to leave it as it is.

A gift List and a Blog Candy

It is time for another trip to India and to make another gift list. I have already bought most of the gifts for friends and family. Last time I made a notebook for my sister and a Calendar for my father. Ours is a literary kind of family. My father is a surgeon by profession and poet by heart and social activist by passion. He writes Ragini ( Haryanavi poems). He is very active on facebook .My sister used to write shaiyri before her marriage. She is a deep thinker. And my mother is very fond of literature of Premchand, Sharatchandra, Bankim Chandra etc. She cultivated in us the love for literature. And our father encouraged it. Whenever he went on trips, he would always bring books for us. He also used to gift us a diary and a pen on new year.( Still does if we are visiting during Christmas).
So here are my handmade gifts:

The Big Project Revealed

We will be going to India next week. So now is the time to reveal the big project I talked about Here. My brother and sister in law were blessed with a daughter last December. We have a tradition called "Chatti". It is celebrated on the birth of a son. My family decided to celebrate Avishi's birth. So they will be having a function in April. When I heard of the program, I thought of making invitation cards. I discussed it with my brother and we decided to keep quiet about it ( in case I am not able to finish the cards in time).I completed 60 cards all decorated with quilled/fringed flowers at the front and different stamped borders inside. They have already reached their destination :) Unfortunately I took pictures of the first two cards only and later forgot to snap other cards. Each card is different from other. I am really proud of myself in getting it all done before time :)

Shutter card

This is the first card that I made after moving house. This is also my first shutter card. It is is double fold shutter card. I found instructions on the net for trifold shutter card. But the size ( 5 1/2") and width of the front panel ( 2") was too short. So I changed the size ( 7") and made it double fold so that I have a 4" front. I made this card specifically for sirstampalot challenge which is yellow, green and pink.

Material used:

1.Base card: Anna Griffin scrapbook card stock

2.3 mm JJ quilling papers for quilled flowers and swirls.

3.Pink paper to make roses

4.Whispers word stamps

5.Flower stamp from QVC

6.Butterfly peel offs which I colored with promarkers.

7.Marienne creatables circle for matting and flower die

8.In2craft Epoxy corner stickers

9.Green paper for matting from creative cardmaking magazine's previous issue

10. Yellow handmade paper with puffed up flower pattern

11. Spellbinders butterfly die

Lots of Goodies!

Yesterday I got a parcel from Angela and it's filled with lovely candy. I took this picture in a hurry, as I wanted to post it here. Angela is a scrapbooker, stamper, dressmaker. She and her family have recently moved to UK. I like her stamping techniques and get inspired to use some on my cards.
Her tutorials on scrapbooking and paper piecing are very easy to follow. The candy she has sent me consists of prima flowers, lovely white feathers, a chipboard album, lace and ribbon, beautiful ATCs, decoupage pics, diamante, glitter and an Anna Griffin 12x12 specialty paper pad. I don't think I am ever going to use these papers. They are sooooo lovely. She also sent a beautiful stamped card for me :)
Thanks Angela.
