A Birthday Party

Today is Ananya's 7th birthday. We had invited her classmates at home.  I didn't feel a tinge of guilt while buying (ready made) invites for the party. But when writing the names on the envelopes, my inner crafty self raised her head and looked down upon me. She chided me for using pre printed invites and scolded me so much that I was left with no alternative but to do something crafty with the envelopes. Luckily I had a 'balloons' stamp stashed somewhere in my cupboard. Then I thought of using 'A' as Ananya's initial and included that too. The result was this :

I thought I had appeased her and went on to make arrangements for the party. But here she goes again, and that too a day before the party! Her Highness, The Crafty Self, again came knocking at my door. I was bullied to make some paper decorations. The result was this:
Paper rosette hangings

Quilled Butterflies

Felt flowers
Of course I didn't make all these in one day. I already had all the stuff with the exception of rosettes. So all I had to do was arrange them on the walls. Bless the soul who invented blue tac.
Rosettes were easy peasy to make and I made five of them in half an hour.

I think now I can sleep with ease, without getting disturbed by Her Highness :)

Random Thoughts

Waiting! Waiting!
My mojo has gone for a walk. And it is still somewhere out there. Seriously! I haven't touched stamps or quilling tool for the past four months and I don't even feel guilty!
The last ( failed) attempt at creativity was making invitation cards for my brother in law's marriage. But as we weren't able to  attend the wedding due to visa hassles, I had to leave them unfinished :(
After that , a complete full stop.

I have so many quilled things already made, just waiting to be glued on a card, but I don't feel like doing anything with them.

Magnolia Card

This is the first magnolia card that I have made. It's a mini magnolia with a cake. I have made this card for Quixotic inspirations challenge. The quixotic paperie shop is fabulous and has great deals. I bought some whimsy stamps and die from them. Their delivery is fast and prices are, as I said, super great.

Quilled Butterfly

Sir Stampalot is having a super challenge for March. You have to take inspiration from DTs' work and create your own piece. When I saw Francesca's Butterfly card, I instantly knew what I will be making. But then I was caught in a butterfly making frenzy and forgot about the particular butterfly that I had to make for this challenge. Anyways, yesterday I visited the challenge blog again and was reminded of my 'to do' list. So here is my 'Quilled' take on Francesca's card.

Bells' n Whistles Card

I have experimented with this easel card. I cut the circle with fiskars  circle cutter. The base looks long rectangle, but infact it's a square and fits perfectly with the circle. The Image is Bells' n Whistles ( my first one). I love Elizabeth Bell's images. Recently I used  my newly bought hand shredder and made lots of paper strips. They came in handy to make these quilled flowers for this card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges :
 Crafty Bloggers Network: Floral
Craft Your Passion: Easel Cards
One Crazy Stamper: Birthday
One Stop Craft Challenge: Handmade Flowers

Time to Move.....Again

Tomorrow we will be moving in a new house. It has been a busy week, with all the packing and sorting. Which things will go in the bin, which will go to the charity, and then start the packing........later unpacking. Ananya is super excited and have told all her teachers that ' we are moving in a new house'. I guess I won't be able to make cards for few days :(
